Sojourn on the Hill #218 was extremely clean, right across the street from a public park, and within walking distance of Eastern Market and the Capitol. Traffic noise was minimal if noticeable at all, and I felt very comfortable to walk back late at night after dinner or take my pups out before bedtime. Dunniela and her team at Sojourn were responsive, although I wish we would have been given more heads up that the property we had originally booked was no longer available due to legislative changes. I was notified that we would have to stay at another place a week before our reservation, but we had booked months in advance. When we arrived, we were told by a team member that a parking pass would be all set up for us, but it was not there, resulting in my having to pay for parking for the first day of our stay. Again, not a huge deal but when it is communicated to me that it will be done, I expect just that. The last night of our stay, the owners upstairs evidently had company and I could hear their conversation word for word from my bedroom. This went on until well after 1am, which was slightly frustrating because we were leaving early the next morning so I did not get much sleep that night. So, if you are a light sleeper, would recommend earplugs or a sound machine because the noise does carry and although you are expected to maintain a noise curfew, evidently that does not apply to anyone else. Overall, 4/5 stars with the reduction being due to poor/late communication and execution of the things I had inquired about and the fact that I could hear everything that happened above us. Otherwise, this was a great stay.Show more

This place has a great location. Close to the Capitol South metro station, and right across the street from the Library of Congress. Close to some nice little local restaurants. That’s about it. Sojourn had to cancel our original booking with them, and offered us this. As it was really too late to begin the search again, we accepted based on the pictures. It is not nearly as pristine as the listing shows, three flights of historical steps (pack light), the floors are water and wear damaged, lights hanging from ceiling fixtures, patio does not look in safe condition, scalding hot water, unpainted patches on the walls, gas stove is difficult to light, very loud furnace, some linens provided were stained, much repair needed. They were quick to respond when the air mattress was missing (but then we got the stained linens)…. It was very cold in DC while we were there, so we were grateful to have a place to stay, but for the price, and based on our past experiences with AirBnB, it was simply that…a place to stay.Show more
